Quintessential Bed and Breakfasts
Crete Senesi

Dubbed the 'Tuscan desert' and lying to the south of Siena and central Tuscany is the area known as the Crete Senesi, which is characterised by round clay hollocks eroded by heavy rain over the centuries. Almost completely barren, it has been planted with cypress and pine trees to provide windbreaks along roads and around isolated farmhouses, which have become an important feature in this empty, primeval landscape.
