Rising above the heart of the city, the richly decorated Duomo, Santa Maria del Fiore, and its orange-tiled dome has become one of the most famous symbols of Florence. The cathedral is Europe's fourth largest church and remains the tallest building in Florence. With its celebrated bronze doors, the Baptistry is one of the oldest buildings in Florence dating back to the 4th Century.
