This grade I listed castle and chapel is an ideal attraction for history enthusiasts, and has a rich history with ties to many important events. The castle was built in the mid-fifteenth century, and was home to the Radcliffe family who were involved in the Jacobite Uprising of 1715, and Guy Fawkes is said to have visited before the Gunpowder Plot. Visitors can attend a guided tour of the building, or attend one of the many talks and events held at the castle throughout the year.
