An unforgettable journey through the spectacular Rheidol Valley by narrow gauge steam train from Aberystwyth to Devil's Bridge, affording superb views of the valley. The line climbs over 600 feet in 11.75 miles taking a leisurley 1 hour for the single journey, 3 hours return. The railway opened in 1902 to serve the lead mines, timber and passenger traffic of the Rheidol valley. To save money, and in deference to the hostile terrain, the railway was built to a narrower track gauge than the norm, with many sharp curves and steep gradients.
