Quintessential Bed and Breakfasts
Scone Palace

Once the crowning place of the Kings of Scots, Scone Palace occupies a unique position in the history of Scotland. A breathtakingly beautiful place of power and mystery and the rightful home of the celebrated Stone of Scone - also known as the Stone of Destiny. Scone Palace is regarded as a national treasure and is revered as the historic jewel in the crown of Scotland.

The 100 acres of Scone Palace Grounds was landscaped by the Third Earl of Mansfield in 1805. The magnificent pinetum was established in 1848 and includes many western hemlock and noble fir positioned in avenues, as well as four Sitka spruce noted for their sheer size and uniformity. Other notable heritage trees include the The Scone Douglas Fir, raised from the original seed sent from America in 1826. A Plant Hunters’ Pavilion, dedicated to David Douglas, born at Scone, stands adjacent to the pinetumDrifts of snowdrops followed by daffodils down Lime Avenue herald in spring while further seasonal highlights include the bloom of primulas and bluebells in the woodland areas in April and May and the explosion of colour from the rhododendrons and azaleas in May and June. Home to the unique Murray Star Maze. The Grounds are also a haven for a variety of wildlife including hawfinches, red squirrels and butterflies.

Today, Scone Palace, just outside Perth, is the home of the Earls of Mansfield, and a 5 star visitor attraction to visitors from around the world. There is so much to see and enjoy at Scone Palace, the history, the art and antiques, the superb landscape and architecture, fun for the children, shopping and exploring that one visit is never enough.
