FRESH AIR 2013, one of the UK’s leading outdoor contemporary sculpture shows, takes place in the lovely 5-acre garden of Quenington Old Rectory from Sunday 16th June to Sunday 17th July 2013. A wide range of disciplines is on view including bronzes, glass, stainless steel, stone, ceramic, marble, wood, fabric, plastic and resin to multi-media installations.
Huge, beautiful pots to withstand the climate, textiles invented not to fade or shred, a banner for a birthday, surprising metal work or wonderfully worked glass placed in a border constantly changing according to the time, light and weather can all be found at this year’s 10th biennial Fresh Air.
One of the many delights of Fresh Air are its riverside gardens and varied settings where some 200 works by 100 sculptors are skilfully placed to provoke maximum thought and surprise. Each year new patterns evolve with young emerging sculptors exhibiting alongside the more established. A third of the exhibitors are new to the event.
This year, inspired by the beauty of the Cotswold garden, bordered on one side by the quintessential Cotswold village of Quenington and on the other by mature trees and the river Coln, there are six artists making site-specific installations in trees, flower beds and the river.
