The Piggery

The former piggery to the neighbouring manor house, The Piggery is the outcome of a lengthy project of restoration, inspiration and creativity. The Piggery offers delightful accommodation that can only be described as luxurious comfort and comfortable luxury - a very rare combination. With his clever use of fabric, colour and texture, Hugh has created a perfect example of a distinct, inviting and understatedly luxurious home. Exuding warmth and style, guests will be perfectly looked after in this much loved Cotswold home.

Your Hosts

Having more or less retired from the hurly burly of the interior design/decorating world, Hugh finds himself with more time to share his beautiful home. His love of entertaining, his interests in the arts...particularly opera...and natural way with people are all hallmarks of his style and passion for this beautiful part of England.

Location

Coln St Aldwyns

Nestling in the breathtaking Coln Valley, Coln St Aldwyns is a traditional Cotswold estate village. The main street starts at the valley river bed, cuts up through the heart of the village and ends at the central focal point which is a large horse chestnut tree planted on a raised circle of grass. With its pretty Norman Church, Coln St Aldwyns is one of the most unspoilt villages in this Conservation Village and Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Situated in the very heart of the Cotswolds in beautiful, rolling countryside, Coln St Aldwyns is only 3 miles from each of Bibury and Fairford and 9 miles from Cirencester, 'Capital of the Cotswolds'.

  • Visit Bibury, described by William Morris as "the most beautiful village in England" and its famous Arlington Row, a collection of 14th Century stone buildings that were converted into weavers' cottages in the 1600s
  • Or, 'the Capital of the Cotswolds', Cirencester, an historic Roman town in the heart of the Cotswolds
  • Don your walking boots and explore miles and miles of wonderful walks, punctuated by quintessential honey-coloured, Cotswold stone villages with cosy pubs and thatched roofs
  • Spend a day in Burford, one of England's prettiest small medieval market towns
  • In need of a little retail therapy? Delightful shops abound in Burford, Stow on the Wold or, a little further afield, in Cirencester and Chipping Campden
  • If houses and gardens are your passion, there is a rich seam of exquisite National Trust and private properties to be found within no more than 30 minutes’ drive
  • Pay homage to the Arts and Crafts Movement with a visit to Kelmscott Manor, former home of William Morris
  • Or, if pre-Raphaelite is more your thing, visit Buscot Park with its stunning collection of pictures, The Briar Rose, by Pre-Raphaelite artist, Burne-Jones and works by Rossetti
