Villa L'Aimée

Set in the beautiful quartier of St Maurice, at the base of Cimiez, Villa L'Aimée was built in 1929, in Belle Époque-style.  It is situated in a quiet, private cul-de-sac overlooking the Parc Chambrun, enjoying wonderful views of the Temple de Diane and the city of Nice.  With its cream façade, balustrades and paved garden, the villa retains its original feel and style, whilst providing every comfort for the discerning guest.

In the past few years Nice has been transformed into one of France's most famous cities and is now the most beautiful and exciting city to visit along the Côte d'Azur.  Second only to Paris with the amount of art galleries and museums, it is one of the richest and most fascinating areas to visit in France.

Your Hosts

English-born Toni has had a background in cooking and art.  She travelled with her work in Switzerland, France and California.  After 25 years of living and working on and off in London, she took time out to learn French and travel in France.  She never went back to London and, after a year's search, she bought and renovated Villa L'Aimée where she has been offering luxury bed and breakfast for discerning guests ever since.

Location

Nice

The former Comté de Nice, now the “Métropole Nice-Côte d'Azur Airport” is in every way the throbbing heart of the destination Côte d'Azur (French Riviera). Nissa la Bella must be discovered in all its facets: historical, cultural, artistic, festive, seaside, societal, tourist. Baroque art, the Belle Époque and Modernism are some of the many different styles in a truly contemporary city which fully plays its role as Capital of the Côte d'Azur. It is surrounded by the Pays Niçois and its hills, villages, vineyards and nature. The nearby coast offers the destination's most splendid postcard views with Villefranche-sur-Mer, where cruise ships stop, Beaulieu and Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, gems of the Riviera. From the striking village of Èze, there is a panorama over the entire coast, with its rugged relief and contrasting landscapes. To the West of the Airport, on the edge of the city, Saint-Laurent-du-Var and Cagnes-sur-Mer are lovely seaside towns with broader shorelines and the mountains further inland.

  • Hire a Velo Bleu bike and cycle down the Promenade des Anglais for a picnic on the beach or feel like kicking back?  Hire a bed and a parasol at the Beau Rivage and spend an afternoon watching the scenes unfold before you
  • Hop on the tram down to the old town in the evening and wander around the Cours Saleya and the craft market.  The jewelry can be particuarly imaginative.  Dine in one of the many restaurants around the old town
  • Walk from the villa up the winding paths to the top of Cimiez to see the Matisse Museum and the views over Nice from the beautiful gardens of the Monastery next door.  Walk on down, past the famous Hotel Regina, to the Chagall Museum and lunch in the garden café
  • Take a morning walk down to the iconic flower market on the Cours Saleya.  Have a coffee at La Civette and people watch.  Head up rue Droite to see the art galleries and the Palais Lascaris with its stunning Venetian staircase
  • Want to feel like a film star?  Come and stay in May and catch the train from Nice Ville to wander around the Cannes Film Festival and mingle amongst the movie stars
  • Take the tram down to the antiques market held every Monday on the Cours Saleya, check out the textile stalls for amazing French linens
  • Take the train to Ventimiglia in Italy on a Friday (only 3 stops by tram to Nice Ville from the villa) to wander around the largest market in Europe.  Stop off at the bakery as you walk down to the market for the local speciality of Swiss Chard pie
  • Take the tram to Garibaldi and walk down to the port to catch the boat to spend the day in St Tropez or the Îles des Lérins.
  • Stay with us for the Monaco Grand Prix - a quick train ride takes you into the heart of Monte Carlo
