Location

Meysey Hampton

A picturesque, bustling South Cotswold village with a fabulous pub, The Masons Arms, with its varied and well-priced menu, at its centre. Meysey Hampton is surrounded by beautiful Cotswold countryside in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and is ideally placed for accessing all of the fabulous towns and villages of the South Cotswolds. The area abounds with National Trust houses and gardens and the famously Royal town of Tetbury with its plethora of interesting, independent shops.

The vast runway of RAF Fairford sits hidden just a few fields away.  Out of daily use, nowadays the base is just a standby and you may barely see or hear a plane come or go for most of the year, except for one long-weekend every July when things really take-off and RAF Fairford plays host to the Royal International Air Tattoo - the world's largest military air show.   As it arrives, you can enjoy the speed and aero-acrobatics of the many national display teams including, of course, the Red Arrows, as well as jet-fighters, bi-planes and helicopters as they fly right overhead.

  • Visit Bibury, described by William Morris as "the most beautiful village in England" and its famous Arlington Row, a collection of 14th Century stone buildings that were converted into weavers' cottages in the 1600s
  • Take a trip to 'the Capital of the Cotswolds', Cirencester, an historic Roman town in the heart of the Cotswolds
  • Don your walking boots and explore miles and miles of wonderful walks, punctuated by quintessential honey-coloured, Cotswold stone villages with cosy pubs and thatched roofs
  • Spend a day in Burford, one of England's prettiest small medieval market towns
  • In need of a little retail therapy? Delightful shops abound in Burford, Cirencester or, a little further afield, in Tetbury and Chipping Campden
  • If houses and gardens are your passion, there is a rich seam of exquisite National Trust and private properties to be found within no more than 30 minutes’ drive, including the famous gardens of Highgrove
  • Pay homage to the Arts and Crafts Movement with a visit to Kelmscott Manor, former home of William Morris
